About Dr. McKay


Dr. McKay received her Master's Degree in Clinical and School Psychology and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University in New York. She has over 20 years of experience providing psychological services to individuals and groups. Dr. McKay is a licensed psychologist in both New York and Florida and has provided psychotherapy to a diverse population in both states. She is trained in several therapies aimed at resolution of trauma including: Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (Certified EMDR Therapist), Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Dr. McKay has also received specialized training in couple's therapy and utilizes research based interventions of John Gottman and Sue Johnson (EFT) in treating couples


She worked as the director of an urban rape crisis program, a psychologist at the Department of Veteran's Affairs, director of a college counseling center and a faculty member in clinical psychology doctoral program. Her areas of specialization include the treatment of trauma, including military and sexual trauma, resilience, stress management, interpersonal relationships and effective coping. She provides workshops and group therapy on mindfulness, stress management and coping skills. In addition to her private practice, Dr. McKay provides consultation and supervision to other mental health providers and agencies, including the Department of Veteran's Affairs. She is also a certified coach for the Leadership Development Institute through Eckerd College and provides executive coaching to professionals in international settings.
